Before this year's “legendary DAYTONA 500 race,” Chevrolet revealed its Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype. Although it never saw the track, this visionary concept teased the electric race cars of tomorrow. Here's a rundown of its top features.
High-Performance Electric Powertrain
The Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype swaps out the familiar V8 for an all-electric powertrain. Its trio of six-phase electric motors produces roughly 1,300 horsepower and spins to 15,000 rpm.
A programmable all-wheel drive system directs torque precisely to each wheel. Built on a modified Next Gen chassis, it's fitted with track-ready suspension gear and Goodyear Racing Eagle tires.
True Race Car Styling
While based on the “road-going Chevrolet Blazer SS EV,” the EV.R's race-focused design is striking. Engineers crafted a wide-body profile and elevated rear wing for top-tier aerodynamics, and its ultra-low stance enhances track adhesion.
Motorsports Innovation
The EV.R NASCAR Prototype is Chevrolet's platform for testing advanced racing technologies, which can be applied to motorsports and future production vehicles.
