What's New for the 2020 Chevy Impala?

In 2020, the Chevy Impala's changes are mostly beneath the hood. The LT trim level now comes standard with a more powerful engine. Meanwhile, the previous base engine for the LS and the four-cylinder 2.5L engine have been eliminated from the powertrain lineup this year. Overall, consumers will get a more powerful Impala regardless of the trim they choose. As in the past, the 2020 Chevy Impala stands out for a noticeably smooth and quiet ride.

It has plenty of room in the front row, back seats, and trunk to accommodate all occupants and luggage. The base engine, which is a V6, provides plenty of power for both 2020 Chevy Impala trims. While the base and higher-end trim of the Impala get several standard amenities, the latest Impala is also available with a suite of add-on features to make your ride even more customized and enjoyable.

Which Trims & Features are Available in 2020?

The 2020 Chevy Impala comes in two trim levels. The base trim is called the LT. It is essentially the same as the LS, which was the entry-level Impala in the 2019 model year. This year, however, the base trim gets a different name. The LT comes standard with many features such as remote engine start, a keyless entry and ignition system, rear air vents, faux leather upholstery, and dual-zone climate control to keep occupants comfortable. The LT's technology includes an eight-inch standard infotainment screen with Android Auto, satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay. A 4G WiFi hotspot is a welcomed standard feature as well.

The base trim also has dual USB charging ports for convenience. Along with these standard amenities, the LT is available with two upgrade packages that provide more safety and creature comforts. The safety package adds parking sensors in the rear, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. The convenience package adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, and another power outlet. The Premier trim gets larger 19-inch standard wheels. Its interior features ambient lighting, a power-adjustable passenger's seat, premium leather seats, and an infotainment system with navigation.

The sound system is upgraded to an 11-speaker Bose system that includes a CD player. The safety amenities available on the LT come standard on this trim, as do heated front seats and the extra power outlet. You can opt for a moonroof with this trim level. The Premier is also offered with a convenience package that includes driver seat memory, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and ventilated front seats.

A Perfect Blend of Power and Fuel Efficiency

The latest Chevy Impala packs plenty of power with a six-cylinder engine that has a 3.6L displacement. This engine can produce up to 305 HP and 264 LB-FT of torque. Both trims come standard with front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Safety Features in the Forefront for 2020

Regardless of the trim level you get, rest assured the 2020 Chevy Impala is a safe car. Both trims have a five-star safety crash test rating by the NHTSA. The Impala's standard safety amenities include rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, lane-change alert, and parking sensors. You'll get a total of 10 airbags in both trims and electronic traction control as well.
