What's New for the 2018 Chevy Suburban?

The new 2018 Chevy Suburban is Chevrolet's most recent addition to their long line of SUV and the latest in the Suburban model class. The new Suburban does not have any real significant changes added to it from the previous year. However, its large size does mean it can take on a lot of weight and cargo, being able to hold a maximum payload of up to 1,670 pounds. In addition it can also tow up to 8,000 pounds of material.

2018 Chevrolet Suburban Trims & Features

Like many vehicles, the Suburban does come with three trim levels: the LS, LT and Premier. The LS trim model is the standard edition of the Suburban, complete with features like a V8 engine, 18-inch alloy wheels, being able to seat eight passengers, automatic windshield wipers and automatic climate control for three zones. The LT model is an upgrade of the LS, containing all of the above features but also adding in other ones such as leather upholstery, a nine-speaker Bose audio system and a power-operated liftgate. A special Luxury package also includes optional features like a driver-side mirror with auto-dimming capabilities, front parking sensors, keyless entry and startup and even a steering wheel with a power-adjustable tilt. The Premier trim model already has the Luxury package included in it, with 20-inch alloy wheels, special xenon headlights and a special magnetic ride control suspension system.

Heavy Duty Performance

The 2018 Chevy Suburban, being a larger vehicle, has an engine with the strength and stamina to keep it running at peak efficiency. The engine is capable of producing a whopping 355 horsepower rating while running up to 5,600 wheel revolutions per minute and up to 383 feet by pounds of torque. The engine also contains 16 valves with variable timing within them, complete with a 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission, a four-wheel drive and front independent suspension. Because the Suburban is a bigger vehicle, the fuel economy is more modest, raking in at a combined 18 miles per gallon, getting 15 MPG when going through the city and 22 MPG when on the highway*, all the while running on flex fuel.

2018 Chevrolet Suburban Safety

The Chevy Suburban does have its own special set of safety features and precautions that have made it a safe ride for all. The Suburban is made with the safety of everyone in mind, even younger passengers and this is shown with the inclusion of child seat anchors and rear door safety locks. Improved stability and traction control has been added to deal with the potentially heavy loads the vehicle can move around. Other features include pre and post-collision safety systems in the event that the driver has an acciden. An avoidance system made for checking for lane departures is another feature in most trim models to avoid accidents in the first place.
